(+)-alpha-(Trifluoromethyl)Benzyl Alcohol is an aldehyde that has been modified with a trifluoromethyl group at the alpha position. This compound has been used as a chiral building block in the synthesis of other compounds and as an intermediate for labeling. It also interacts with cinchonidine, an antihypertensive drug, to form a complex. The labeling and separation of this compound can be accomplished using high-performance liquid chromatography and it is also susceptible to oxidation by dehydrogenases.
