It inhibits the growth of cancer cells by binding to the neurokinin-1 receptor, which may be involved in the regulation of cell proliferation and apoptosis. Vapreotide acetate has been shown to inhibit IGF-I (insulin-like growth factor 1) and somatostatin release in vitro. The molecular docking analysis of vapreotide acetate with the neurokinin-1 receptor has been performed using a computer program. The potency of vapreotide acetate was found to be comparable to other analogs such as octreotide acetate and lanreotide acetate in inhibiting cell proliferation in human osteosarcoma cell lines.
