4-Amino-6-methoxyquinoline is a pyridine that has been shown to have antihypertensive activity. It is administered orally and inhibits the binding of deoxycorticosterone (DOC) to its receptors on the nucleus of hypertensive rats. This drug also blocks the conversion of DOC to corticosterone, which is an important step in the synthesis of aldosterone from DOC. 4-Amino-6-methoxyquinoline has been shown to cause a significant decrease in systolic blood pressure in hypertensive rats.
