3,5-Diamino-1H-pyrazole-4-carbonitrile is a bioactive molecule that has been shown to have a range of bioactivities. This compound has been shown to be cytotoxic in human lung cancer cells and also inhibits the proliferation of human breast cancer cells. It has also been shown to inhibit the production of nitric oxide by lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated macrophages. The effects of 3,5-diamino-1H-pyrazole-4-carbonitrile on LPS stimulated macrophage nitric oxide production are due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis, leading to reduced levels of the enzyme nitric oxide synthase.
