• Descrizione: Solvent blue 59 is a styryl dye that is used for the preparation of polymeric matrices containing microcapsules. It has been shown to have low-energy radiation sensitivity and to be reactive with hydroxyl groups. Solvent blue 59 has been used in the production of film-forming polymers and as a reactive component in a lymphatic vessels staining technique. This dye is also used in the treatment of infectious diseases, such as malaria, where it has shown effectiveness against both Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax. The dye binds selectively to infected erythrocytes and can be visualized under an electron microscope.
