Descrizione:DAU-5884 is a dopamine derivative that has potent anti-pertussis effects. It is also a nutritional supplement and can be used in the treatment of aerobic gram-negative bacterial infections, such as Bordetella pertussis. DAU-5884 is an inhibitor of bacterial fatty acid synthesis, which blocks the production of fatty acids necessary for growth. This inhibition has been shown to be bactericidal against the type strain of Bordetella pertussis. DAU-5884 can be effective against other types of bacteria as well, including Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. DAU-5884 inhibits guanine synthesis by blocking the enzyme ribonucleotide reductase. This drug also blocks protein synthesis by inhibiting amino acid transport into the cell and preventing protein translocation from within the cytoplasm to the ribosomes on the cell membrane or inner membrane surface.
