Isosalicifolin is a natural product that belongs to the class of lignans. It has been found to show conformational, phenolic, and spectroscopic properties. Isosalicifolin has also been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to the ribosome and inhibiting protein synthesis. The structure of isosalicifolin was elucidated using spectroscopic methods. This compound has been isolated from leaves of the genus Acuminata. Isosalicifolin is a member of a group of compounds called butenolides, which are characterized by a six-membered ring with an unsaturated side chain on one end.
Isosalicifolin has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in mice studies.
