Methyl 4-chloro-2-iodobenzoate is an efficient synthesis of 2,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid.
The sequence of the molecule is cyclic and contains two hydroxylated groups in the polyhydroxylated chain. The molecule has a thioglycosyl, which is a glycoside with a sulfur atom on the sugar ring.
