It can also be used for diagnostic purposes in vitro and is being studied for its anticancer activity. BDCN has been shown to have photophysical and photochemical properties, which are characterized by the release of electrons when exposed to light. In vivo studies on cancer cells showed that BDCN causes cell death by damaging the cell's DNA. This effect was observed in the target tissue of mice with cancer. The diameter of the molecule is 7.8 Å, which makes it a suitable candidate for drug delivery systems and targeted therapies because it can easily pass through cell membranes.
