Descrizione:CGP 36216 hydrochloride is a GABA receptor agonist that has been shown to have both mediated and spontaneous activity. It has a high affinity for the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor and its effects on the GABA receptor are antagonistic. CGP 36216 hydrochloride is used in the treatment of seizures and can be used as an adjunct to baclofen preparations in the treatment of spasticity. CGP 36216 hydrochloride has been shown to increase frequency of spontaneous inhibitory postsynaptic currents in neocortical neurons, which may be due to its ability to activate presynaptic GABA receptors.
