Sodium 3-hydroxybenzoate is an inorganic compound that is a salt of hydroxyl group, chloride, and carboxylate. It can be prepared by reacting sodium with 3-hydroxybenzoate. Sodium 3-hydroxybenzoate has been shown to have photocatalytic activity. It can also be used as a cationic surfactant and hydrogen bond donor. The structure of this molecule is composed of a triterpenoid saponin with a lanthanide ion coordinated to the oxygen atoms at C3 and C4 positions. This coordination may contribute to the high stability of this molecule.
