Descrizione:
Viomycin sulfate hydrate is a derivative of the tetracycline class of antibiotics. It is a cyclic peptide with a molecular weight of 785.5. In its active form, Viomycin sulfate hydrate inhibits protein synthesis by binding to ribosomes and preventing the attachment of amino acids to the ribosomal RNA. It is effective in treating HIV infection and has been shown to be an effective chemotherapy against bacterial infections such as tuberculosis, leprosy, and brucellosis. Viomycin sulfate hydrate is stable in physiological levels but may react with basic proteins and some antimicrobial agents, such as erythromycin or chloramphenicol, which can cause drug interactions.
