It acts by binding to the S phase of the cell cycle and inhibiting DNA synthesis. 5CA also inhibits viral replication by binding to the virus antigen. This drug has been shown to be effective as a radioimmunotherapy agent due to its ability to bind specifically with tumor cells and deliver radioactive isotopes. As a result, it can be used for targeting of cancer cells in vivo by introducing a radionuclide into the body or attaching it onto an antibody.
