It is an inhibitor of bacterial growth and has been shown to induce apoptosis in prostate cancer cells. 3-(Methylthio)-4,5-diphenyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole binds with human serum proteins and has pharmacokinetic properties that make it suitable for oral administration. This compound has also been shown to have biological properties in animals and exhibits structural features that are similar to cyclic peptides. The molecular geometry of this compound is dihedral, with nitrogen atoms present at each corner of the molecule. There are two crystalline polymorphs: one with a (2R) configuration and another with a (1S) configuration.
