• Descrizione: Desmethyl fluvoxamine is the active metabolite of fluvoxamine, which is a drug used to treat depression. It has been shown that desmethyl fluvoxamine binds to the human liver and can be detected in the blood. A liquid chromatography method was used to measure desmethyl fluvoxamine in wastewater samples. The uptake of desmethyl fluvoxamine into human liver cells was also studied using a polymerase chain reaction technique on cell cultures. Desmethyl fluvoxamine has been shown to induce antidepressant response in people who were administered caffeine. Clinical studies have been conducted on the use of desmethyl fluvoxamine as an antidepressant treatment, with some success.
