It reacts with serum albumin to produce a stable complex, which can be used as an immunogen. The synthesis of 2-(4-ethoxyphenyl)-2-methylpropanol is accomplished by reacting 3-phenoxybenzyl alcohol with chloroform in the presence of sodium hydroxide. The chemical reaction produces a mixture of phenoxybenzoic acid and 2-(4-ethoxyphenyl)-2-methylpropanol.
