Oxitropium bromide is a bronchodilator that relaxes the muscles of the airways and decreases the sensitivity of the lungs to irritants. It is used for the treatment of chronic cough, bronchial asthma, and other respiratory diseases. Oxitropium bromide has been shown to inhibit cholinergic receptors in mammals with bronchial hyperreactivity, which may be due to its anticholinergic properties. This drug has also been shown to have an effect on body mass index and clinical relevance.
