Descrizione:2,4,6-Tribromobiphenyl is an organohalogen compound that is classified as a high substrate. It has a specific activity of 100 mCi/mg and can dehalogenate a variety of polychlorinated biphenyls. 2,4,6-Tribromobiphenyl is used to remove PCBs from sediments and soil by autoclaving the substrate or by adding it in the presence of organisms such as fungi or bacteria. 2,4,6-Tribromobiphenyl has been shown to react with multiple congeners including biphenyl and dibenzofuran under acidic conditions. This reaction releases bromine atoms which are not transferred to the dehalogenated product.
