AR-M 1000390 hydrochloride is a centrally acting, peripherally mediated, and peripherally expressed opioid that has been shown to inhibit colonic motility. It has an analgesic effect on the central, enteric, and peripheral nervous systems. AR-M 1000390 hydrochloride is a potent inhibitor of gastrointestinal motility and has been shown to have an analgesic effect in animal models of chronic pain. This drug binds to the opioid receptor and blocks the binding of endogenous opioids or exogenous agonists such as morphine. AR-M 1000390 hydrochloride also inhibits cyclooxygenase activity in the brain, which may contribute to its analgesic effect.
