Descrizione:ProTx I is a phospholipid membrane stabilizer that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in laboratory studies. ProTx I specifically inhibits the amine-gated m1 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor, which is found in certain types of bladder cancer cells. This agent also affects sodium channels and potassium channels, inhibiting their function and leading to cell death. ProTx I is a covalent inhibitor that binds to the extracellular part of the target enzyme by chemical ligation. The linker between the prodrug and the enzyme is modified by modifiers such as hydrophilic or lipophilic groups that increase or decrease its affinity for a particular target molecule.
