BMS 986094 hydrate is a drug with antiviral potency and natriuretic peptide levels. It is an analog of the natural hormone atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) that has potent antiviral activity against HIV-1 and hepatitis C virus. BMS 986094 hydrate binds to specific protein sequences, known as response elements, which are found in the promoter region of genes encoding for proteins necessary for viral replication. This drug also interacts with drugs that are metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes, leading to potential drug interactions. BMS 986094 hydrate is currently being tested in clinical trials for its efficacy in treating patients with chronic hepatitis C infection.
