Perphenazine sulfoxide is a phenothiazine derivative that acts as an antagonist of dopamine D2 receptors. It also inhibits the enzyme that converts perphenazine to perphenazine sulfoxide, which is its active form. Perphenazine sulfoxide has been shown to be effective in geriatric patients with plasma concentrations of carbapenem between 10 and 30 μg/mL. The drug is metabolized in vivo by hydrolysis to the acid form, which is then converted to the neutral form by hydrolysis. The neutral form can be measured by chromatographic methods such as liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry or high-performance liquid chromatography.
PERPHENAZINE SULFOXIDE IS A PHARMACEUTICAL DOSAGE OF PERPHENAZINE INACTIVATED BY A THIOETHER LINKAGE TO THE SULFOXIDE GROUP. IT IS USED TO TREAT SCHIZOPHRENIA AND OTHER PSYCHOTIC
