Descrizione:Tropanyl-3,5-dimethylbenzoate is a prodrug for tropane-3,4,5-trione. It is metabolized in vivo to the active form by esterases and hydrolases. Tropanyl-3,5-dimethylbenzoate has been shown to inhibit serotonin reuptake and to have serotonergic effects in rats. This drug also has a long half-life and can be used as an alternative to metformin hydrochloride for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Tropanyl-3,5-dimethylbenzoate is currently being studied as a potential treatment for migraine prophylaxis. It may also be used as a pharmaceutical dosage form of fatty alcohols and fatty acids.
