Ophiopogonin A is a biologically active compound that belongs to the class of fructus. It is a polysaccharide and has shown anti-oxidative effects in vitro. Ophiopogonin A has been found to have hepatoprotective effects, including protection against liver toxicity induced by acetaminophen (Tylenol). In addition, ophiopogonin A also inhibits the growth of cancer cells in vitro.
