Descrizione

Asukamycin is a methyltransferase inhibitor that binds to the active site of enzymes such as fatty acid synthase, acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylase and hydroxylase. It has been shown to be effective against infectious diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis. Asukamycin is also known to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo by inhibiting transcriptional regulation. In addition, it inhibits the production of monoclonal antibodies that are important for immune response. Finally, this compound can bind to human macrophages and prevent their activation by acetate extract from Escherichia coli or polyene from Candida albicans.
