6α-Hydroxymaackiain is a natural product that belongs to the group of isoflavones and has shown to be an x-ray crystal structure. 6α-Hydroxymaackiain binds to DNA, inhibiting bacterial replication and growth. It also stimulates the production of phytoalexins, which are antimicrobial substances produced by plants in response to microbial attack. 6α-Hydroxymaackiain has been shown to be effective against bacterial strains that are resistant to other antibiotics such as erythromycin and penicillin. The optimum pH for 6α-hydroxymaackiain activity is between 5 and 7.6. There are no sequences available for this product.
