Epimedokoreanin B is a flavonoid derivative that has shown to be an inhibitor of protease activity. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and inhibitory effects on cancer. Epimedokoreanin B is a natural product with a prenyl group, which is the target of kinetic studies. Preparative HPLC was used to isolate Epimedokoreanin B from Chinese herbs. The affinity constant for this compound is 1.0x10^5 M, which was determined using fluorescence polarization and enzyme inhibition assays. Epimedokoreanin B also has an inhibitory effect on oral pathogens, such as Streptococcus mutans and other cariogenic bacteria in the mouth.
