Trimethylpyrazine-2-carboxylic acid has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the growth of tumor cells in culture and is also able to induce apoptosis (cell death) in these cells. This agent can be used as a chemotherapeutic agent or as an anticancer prodrug.
