The lipase enzyme is used to remove the final d9 methyl group from the valsartan molecule, producing the active form of valsartan. The pressure ionization technique is used to express this drug, which produces an oral solid that can be taken by mouth. This drug has been shown to have unilateral effects on blood pressure in mice.
