Descrizione

6-O-Acetylgenistin is a metabolite of genistein, an isoflavone that belongs to the group of phytoestrogens. It has been shown to be biologically active in pancreatic cells, where it reduces the uptake and growth of insulin-producing cells. Genistein also stimulates estrogen receptors in the liver and may be helpful in treating diabetes by activating glucose uptake and decreasing blood sugar levels. 6-O-Acetylgenistin is converted into genistein by acetylation. The conversion process is activated by daidzin and pinoresinol, which are found in food sources such as soybeans, clover, and alfalfa.
