Descrizione:Sodium hydroxide is a strong inorganic base that can be used to neutralize acids. It has been used for the treatment of wastewater, for example, by the production of sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate. Sodium hydroxide has also been used as a catalyst in organic synthesis reactions, such as the conversion of cyclohexane to cyclohexanol or cyclohexanone. In biological systems, it is a potent inducer of proton pump activity in the stomach lining and is used in conjunction with hydrochloric acid to treat iron oxides. Sodium hydroxide monohydrate is also an important reactant in the formation of prostacyclin receptor agonists.
