This compound can be identified using an HPLC method with a methanol mobile phase and a linear range from 0.1 to 5.0 μmole. 2-Methyl-6-phenylpyrimidin-4-ol has been reported to have antimicrobial activity against Gram positive bacteria, such as Streptococcus pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus, as well as Gram negative bacteria, such as Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
