B220 is a protein that induces autophagy. It is an inhibitory receptor for benzalkonium chloride and binds to the immunoglobulin chains of human B cells. It appears to be involved in the regulation of metabolic disorders and autoimmune diseases, as well as leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). B220 inhibits the growth of breast cancer cells in vitro by binding to dna intercalation, which blocks transcription and replication. The experimental model has been used to study disease activity in vitro, as well.
