Descrizione:Alsterpaullone is a cytotoxic drug that inhibits the mitochondrial membrane potential by blocking the respiratory chain at complex III of the electron transport system. It has been shown to be effective against carcinoma cell lines and cell-specific squamous carcinomas in mice. Alsterpaullone has also been shown to have significant cytotoxicity in liver cells, leading to cell lysis and decreased ATP production. This drug also inhibits the activity of enzymes such as succinate dehydrogenase and acetyl-CoA carboxylase, which are involved in energy metabolism.
