• Descrizione: N-Methyl-D-glucosamine is a nucleotide that is found in the adenine nucleotide pool. It can be synthesized from glucose, which is converted to glucosamine-6-phosphate by the enzyme glucosamine synthetase. This compound can also be obtained from dietary sources. N-Methyl-D-glucosamine has been shown to have cytotoxic activity against mouse tumor cells and inhibit skin cancer in mice. It binds with DNA and inhibits cell growth through a glycosidic bond with terminal residues of DNA, preventing transcription and replication. N-Methyl-D-glucosamine has also been shown to inhibit the growth of resistant microorganisms such as C. glabrata, including antibiotic resistant strains, and bacteria such as E. coli and P. aeruginosa when used in combination with an experimental model of biocompatible polymers.NMTG has been shown to
