Descrizione:SRX246 is a novel anxiolytic drug that is a selective, high-affinity antagonist at the serotonin 5-HT2A receptor. SRX246 had no significant binding to other serotonin receptors (5-HT1A, 5-HT2C, and 5-HT7) or dopamine receptors (D1, D2, D3). SRX246 was not metabolized in humans and had a short half-life of about 2 hours. The pharmacokinetics of SRX246 were linear over the dose range tested.SRX246 has been shown to be effective in animal models for anxiety and depression. T98g cells are a human cell line that has been used as an experimental model for anxiety disorders. In these cells, SRX246 inhibited the firing of neurons induced by glutamate and inhibited receptor binding to glutamate receptors.
