Descrizione:(R)-(+)-Corypalmine is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of antipsychotic drugs. It has been shown to be an effective treatment for bipolar affective disorder in combination with other drugs. The mechanism of action is not yet known, but it may be due to inhibition of oxidative phosphorylation by mitochondrial complex I. (R)-(+)-Corypalmine has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. This drug inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi, such as Staphylococcus aureus, by inhibiting protein synthesis. It also inhibits the production of serotonin from tryptophan and protopine from arginine. Metformin hydrochloride is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus because it increases insulin sensitivity and decreases glucose production in the liver.
