Mogroside III-E is a terpene found in the plant family Magnoliaceae. It has been used as a pharmaceutical drug to treat obesity and diabetes. Mogroside III-E has been shown to inhibit 3T3-L1 preadipocyte differentiation, inhibit the production of collagen, and reduce inflammation by inhibiting toll-like receptor 4 signaling. Mogroside III-E also inhibits lung fibroblast proliferation and induces epithelial mesenchymal transition in lung fibroblasts. This compound also inhibits the growth of cancer cells by inhibiting the transcriptional activity of response element binding protein.
Mogroside III-E is a natural compound that is structurally similar to flavonol glycosides and triterpenoid saponins, which are compounds found in plants and have anti-inflammatory properties.
