Org 37684 has been shown to increase locomotor activity in mice by acting as a functional agonist at the 5-HT2A receptor. This drug also binds selectively with high affinity to the 5-HT2C receptor and acts as an allosteric modulator of the 5-HT1A receptor. In addition, it is a potent serotonergic agent that stimulates both central and peripheral serotonergic activity. Org 37684 may be used for the treatment of mood disorders such as depression and anxiety due to its ability to stimulate serotonin production.
