Descrizione:5’(R)-C-Methyluridine is a synthetic nucleoside that is an antiviral agent. It inhibits the enzyme RNA polymerase and thereby prevents the production of viral RNA. The compound can be used as a potential anticancer drug because it inhibits the synthesis of DNA in tumor cells. 5’(R)-C-Methyluridine has been shown to inhibit the growth of some bacterial species, such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis, but not other bacteria, such as Escherichia coli.
