2-Methylsulfanyl-4-phenylamino-pyrimidine-5-carbaldehyde is a Ribonucleside, Deoxyribonucleoside, Activator, Antiviral, Synthetic and Modified DNA Nucleoside. It has been shown to inhibit viral replication in vitro by interfering with the formation of the viral diphosphate. 2-Methylsulfanyl-4-phenylamino-pyrimidine-5-carbaldehyde is a ribonucleotide that is synthesized from commercially available starting materials. This compound has shown to be active against HIV type 1 virus in vitro and has been proposed as a potential antiviral agent for the treatment of AIDS.
