Molybdenum(II) acetate dimer (MoOAc-2) is a mesoporous material that has been synthesized using a diphenyl ether as an organic template. The MoOAc-2 has a honeycomb-like structure, with the molybdenum atoms occupying the pores. This material is hydrophobic, so it can be used in applications where water or other polar solvents are present. MoOAc-2 has high surface area and is stable under both acidic and basic conditions. It also exhibits excellent optical properties, including transparency in the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum, which makes it suitable for use in photoelectron spectroscopy. Molybdenum(II) acetate dimer has been studied for its potential use in analytical chemistry for hydrogen peroxide and photoelectron analysis.
