Descrizione:7,22,25-Stigmastatrienol is a natural product with a constant structure. It has been shown to be synthesized in leaves and flowers by the condensation of three molecules of geranylgeranyl diphosphate. The biosynthesis of this compound is suggested to involve the cyclization of two molecules of geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate to form a molecule of farnesyl pyrophosphate. This compound binds to proteins that contain aromatic amino acids. 7,22,25-Stigmastatrienol has been found to have substituent effects on the enzyme activity that catalyzes the conversion of cholesterol into bile acid. The structural factors that determine its binding affinity to proteins are not well understood.
