• Descrizione: Semapimod is an orally bioavailable small molecule drug candidate with anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties. Semapimod inhibits the activation of macrophages, which are a type of white blood cells that play a key role in inflammation. This drug also inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines, such as IL-1β and TNF-α. Semapimod has been shown to prevent the development of encephalomyelitis, which is a disease that causes inflammation in the brain and spinal cord, by preventing demyelination (the loss or damage of the myelin sheath) in mice. It has also been shown to be effective at treating patients with multiple sclerosis who have not responded to other treatments.
