VUF 11222 is a peptide research tool that can be used as an activator or inhibitor of ion channels. It has been shown to bind to and inhibit the activity of various receptors and ligands. VUF 11222 is a potent inhibitor, with IC50 values in the low nanomolar range, of voltage-gated Na+ channels and Ca2+ currents, with no significant effects on K+ currents. This peptide is also an agonist at the benzodiazepine site of GABAA receptors, with an EC50 value of 0.1 μM.
