BP897 is a dopamine receptor agonist that binds to the D1 and D2 receptors. BP897 has been shown to increase locomotor activity in mice, as well as brain levels of camp and cAMP. This drug also inhibits cancer cell growth in vitro by blocking the function of the protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B). The use of BP897 is limited by its high affinity for dopamine receptors, which may lead to tolerance and dependence after prolonged exposure.
