• Descrizione: HBT1 is a novel drug that has been shown to be active against several human immunodeficiency viruses. HBT1 inhibits the replication of HIV-1 and HIV-2 by targeting a specific protein, CD4, which is found on the surface of T cells. HBT1 binds to CD4 and prevents it from binding with gp120, thereby blocking the fusion of the CD4 receptor with gp120. HBT1 also inhibits viral infection by inhibiting reverse transcription and DNA synthesis. The enzyme activity of HBT1 has been demonstrated in maternal serum and uptake assays using human lymphocytes. The potency of HBT1 varies depending on the type of virus it targets, but is typically low.
