Clomiphene is a drug that is used to treat female infertility. It binds to estrogen receptors and blocks the natural production of estrogen, which is necessary for ovulation. Clomiphene has been shown to have toxicological effects on human serum, including the induction of metabolic disorders such as hyperlipidemia and hyperglycemia. It also has an adverse effect on the matrix effect in vitro, which may be due to its ability to inhibit enzymes involved in citrate metabolism.
