Descrizione:Neu2000 is a mitochondria-targeted noncompetitive inhibitor of the mitochondrial ATP synthase. It has been shown to inhibit neuronal death and reactive oxygen species production in wild-type mice following an acute ischemic event. Neu2000 has also been shown to be neuroprotective against excitotoxicity induced by nanomolar concentrations of glutamate, which may be due to its ability to maintain iron homeostasis. Neu2000 has also been shown to have potential as a therapeutic agent for nervous system diseases.
