It has been shown to scavenge radicals, such as the hydroxyl radical and superoxide anion, in vitro. 2-Hydroxychrysene-d11 also binds to receptor α and is considered a possible candidate for the development of novel antiestrogenic agents. This test compound also has antibacterial properties against bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus mirabilis, Staphylococcus aureus, and Enterobacter cloacae. 2-Hydroxychrysene-d11 is not active against Gram-positive bacteria.
